Michael and Deidra Kosterman's remarkable journey is a testament to their resilience and determination. After their children had grown up and moved out, they embarked on a series of adventures, from teaching English in Mexico to running a B&B in British Columbia. Their nomadic spirit led them to work on a gold claim, but their lives drastically turned when Michael fell ill.
Relocating to Patricia, Alberta, to be closer to family, Michael's health continued to decline, eventually leading to a diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. This marked the beginning of an arduous eight-month treatment journey at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. Amidst the physical and emotional challenges, Michael found solace in his lifelong passion for music.
He poured his heart and soul into crafting a song, "Always Keep On Fighting," inspired by his own battle with cancer. This powerful anthem, a testament to his unwavering spirit, caught the attention of the Alberta Cancer Foundation and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. Their recognition led to a successful fundraising campaign, amplifying the impact of Michael's inspiring message.
The culmination of this journey came with an extraordinary invitation for Michael to perform "Always Keep On Fighting" at the prestigious Light the Night Event in Calgary, organized by the LLSC. Honored as a hero of resilience, Michael, accompanied by his wife Deidra, will deliver a poignant performance, symbolizing hope and strength in the face of adversity.
