Mom, Dad, and little brother Jackson walk for their son and big brother Sebastian who was diagnosed when he was 1, with leukemia. His diagnosis came during a holiday trip home to Saskatoon to see family, on December 31st, 2016. His treatment included a bone marrow transplant on July 7th, 2017, and we're happy to say that he is now doing awesome!

Three things that best describe Sebastian - He's our light in the darkness, very inquisitive, and extremely observant (could pick your car out in a parking lot, or remember you had a blister on your thumb 5 months ago)!
We were inspired to join Light The Night because wanted a way to give back and support others on their blood cancer journey, and hopefully help find a cure. It also ended up coinciding with Sebastian being in remission and has been a great way to celebrate him being cancer free!
We look forward to participating in Light The Night every year and hope to continue to raise more awareness and funds for childhood cancer.
Light The Night represents community of people coming together to support each other and help raise awareness to someday find a cure. When Sebastian had his bone marrow transplant, and we were waiting for him to 'engraft', one of our doctors said something I will never forget. He said waiting for those good cells to take hold is like waiting for the sun to come out and light up the darkness - I feel Light the Night embodies this, and it will always remind me of the darkness we battled through. The lanterns represent all the lights ie. the love, support, the spots of light in the dark that guided us through.
Light the Night is such an incredible way to honour those fighting and those who have lost their battle - no other walk I have done to raise awareness has been so magical. There is something about walking with a lantern and seeing the amount of people that have been affected - a ripple effect of support, it takes your breath away.
