Our team wanted to find a cause that they were passionate about and that meant something to them. In 2019, LLSC staff presented the opportunity to participate in Light the Night to our office and it resonated with our team. Everyone knows someone who has had cancer, so it was near and dear to many hearts. Our team learned what LLSC was doing in terms of research and we wanted to get behind it. Light the Night is also a great team-building opportunity. Our office got into it and we had about 80% participation for the event. Our CEO and his family actively participated in fundraising, providing event tickets for prizes!
Light The Night is an emotional experience. We heard heartbreaking stories of loss and courageous stories about survival. These stories motivate me to want to find for a cure, and Light The Night is a platform showing the power of what humanity is capable of. It proves how much good we can do when we all come together to fight a disease that impacts all of us.
We need the LLSC, not only to help find a cure but also to support our families and friends going through cancer. We won't find a cure without the funds to conduct the research and we also need to provide a supportive community for those battling cancer.
The people of Calgary inspire me. When we come together to support each other through organizations like LLSC, it shows the compassion and strength we share as a community. We are all fighting to make this world better for those affected by cancer. No matter what is happening in our lives, it's important we stay committed to causes that mean something to us.
