Blood cancer came into my life when my brother, Craig was diagnosed with AML at the age of 38. Our lives were forever changed with that diagnosis. He passed away leaving behind a family, many friends, and an amazing work family too. Blood cancer has affected me and my team from the day we heard he was sick.
I was inspired to join light the night because I wanted to do something to help my brother along with everyone fighting blood cancer. To Me, Light the Night means: Shine your light for the people we have lost. Shine it for the people fighting, and shine it for the survivors. It means coming together to support each other.
My family and close friends walk with me. Many of my family in Cape Breton do their own walk if they can’t be with us and it means the world to me. Team Etheridge has grown over the years and my goal is to keep growing, keep fighting, and keep lighting the night!
Canadians should support blood cancer through Light the Night because blood cancer is real. It can change your life in an instant. Having an opportunity to come together, raise money and have a good time while doing it ensures you feel amazing to have taken part in something bigger than yourself. Everyone has a light they can shine.
